Idaho Equine Hospital encourages veterinary students (priority given to 3rd and 4th year students) to visit for 1-4 weeks (most students stay for 2 weeks).  During the externship students are exposed to a wide variety of cases and work closely with staff veterinarians during  both during normal working hours and on an after hours emergency basis.  These cases include lameness/sports medicine, surgery, medical work ups, reproduction and dentistry.  Externs assist intern veterinarians and technicians with after hours treatments and emergencies.  Housing is provided on site and we require that externs stay on site.  The externship will provide the student with an opportunity to become familiar with the internship offered by Idaho Equine Hospital (see AAEP
